Premier Doug Ford says his government intends to add a 5th stop to the Yonge North Subway Extension.
It’s to go at Royal Orchard Boulevard in Thornhill, with the money for construction coming from proceeds of the development of 40,000 homes at the sites of two other stations in Richmond Hill (Bridge and High Tech stations).
The Royal Orchard stop is to be the second in Thornhill, with the other to go at Clark Avenue.
The planned 8-kilometre route will run from the Finch station to just north of Highway 7 in Richmond Hill.
Construction on the extension is expected to begin in late 2023 with the government saying it could be done in 2030.
