On this Earth Day 2022, Ontario’s Green Party leader says he wants to make climate change and a proposed highway through environmental wetlands prominent election issues.

Mike Schreiner told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with guest host Jane Brown, transportation emissions are the largest source of climate pollution in the province.

“If we keep sprawling out, not only are we going to make life less affordable for us in terms of finding an affordable place to call home near where you work, but it’s also paving over nature’s ability to protect us from flooding and extreme weather events and it increases climate pollution from the transportation sector,” Schreiner explained.

Specific to the proposed Highway 413, former Toronto Mayor David Crombie, who’s now chair of the Friends of the Golden Horseshoe, says you can make your voice heard in opposition to Highway 413 at the ballot box June 2nd.

“And I think no matter which party you belong to politically, people should get out and vote and make sure they’re voting for someone who’s opposed to 413, because it will cause much great harm and we don’t need it and we can avoid it if we actually make the right choice,” Crombie implored.

Crombie says all of the parties at Queen’s Park, other than the governing Doug Ford PCs, are against the 413.
