It’s Official.

Ontario’s election campaign starts Wednesday although it’s been “unofficially” underway for weeks now.

Premier Doug Ford visited lieutenant governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell Tuesday afternoon to request dissolution of the legislature.

It clears the way for Dowdeswell to issue the writs Wednesday  morning for the June 2 election.

Ford says people have a very clear choice.

“Either the people of this province are going to choose to go backwards,” said Ford. “They destroyed this province i previous governments or they’re going to choose prosperity, gettings things built like bridges, roads and highways.”

Ford kicks off his campaign Wednesday night in Etobicoke.

He didn’t respond when asked if he’s worried about getting a majority or a possible coalition between the NPD and Liberals.

There are two leaders’ debates:  Tuesday, May 10 in North Bay, and another televised one May 16 in Toronto.

More than 7,000 polls open June 2nd from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
