Zoomers of a certain vintage will remember Marlene Dietrich singing her hit “Lilli Marlene.”
The silver screen legend’s interpretation of that melancholy tune is one of the most remembered songs of World War II.
The-then American based artist gave up her German citizenship after the Nazi’s took over her homeland and not only sang for the U.S. Army, but recorded songs containing coded messages for American spy teams.
Marlene Dietrich died 30-years ago today in Paris at the age of 90.
