There are calls for Education Minister Stephen Lecce’s resignation over an incident from his university days.

Lecce came under fire after the website Press Progress published details of his involvement in a charity fund raiser, dubbed a “slave auction” when he was president of a fraternity at Western University.

Lecce has issued a statement saying the event was inappropriate and in no way reflects who he is as a person.

Three black N.D.P. members say Lecce was involved in events that mocked and trivialized slavery and chose to conceal that.

They are demanding he withdraw as a candidate for reelection.
