Prince Charles and wife Camilla received a warm welcome from Governor General Mary Simon and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau upon their arrival in St. John’s.

Mary Simon welcomed the Royals to Canada in Inuktitut, asking Charles and Camilla to listen to the Indigenous groups they will meet in Canada and to learn their stories.

“I encourage you to learn the truth of our history, the good and the bad,” she said.

Prince Charles paid respect to Canada’s Indigenous Peoples in his speech, praising their stewardship of the land.

He says the Queen asked him to express her deep affection for this country and Canadians as she celebrates her Platinum Jubilee.

“Above all, time and again, I’ve seen what makes this country truly great, the people and what they stand for, outward-looking, big-hearted, and embodying Canada’s inherently global values,” said Charles.

The future King says the Queen feels honoured to have met so many people in every corner of the country over her many visits.
