It was supposed to go to auction this week and it was expected to fetch up to $1.2 million.  The “it” is a blue pinafore dress worn by Judy Garland in the “The Wizard of Oz.”

The dress, which is one of several worn by Dorothy in the film, was missing for decades before being rediscovered in shoe box last year.

According to court documents, the dress was gifted to a priest at The Catholic University of America’s Department of Speech and Drama, in the early 1970’s.

Once re-discovered, the school offered if for sale at auction. But the niece of the priest says the dress is part of her uncle’s estate and says she is the rightful owner.

The Catholic University claims the gift was intended to benefit its students.

A judge has halted this particular sale until the ownership can be determined.

In 2015, another of the gingham dresses sold for $1.5 million.
