A former White House aide has told the committee investigating the January 6th riot new details about what former President Donald Trump and former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows knew about possible violence.
Cassidy Hutchinson says Trump was informed that people rallying had weapons but that he told officials to “let my people in” and march to the Capitol.
She told the committee she first heard of the January 6th plans from former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani and immediately reported the conversation to her boss Mark Meadows. She said his response was “things could get real, real bad on January 6th.”
Hutchinson testified that Trump demanded that attendees not be screened, saying he didn’t care if they had weapons as they were not there to hurt him.
