Via Rail services nationwide are in jeopardy of being suspended next week after the company received a 72-hour strike notice from UNIFOR, the union representing about 2,400 of its employees.
According to the union, if an agreement is not reached by 12:01am on Monday, sales agents, customer service and maintenance workers will be among those headed for the picket line.
While hoping to prevent a work stoppage, Via Rail has already said that passengers impacted by a stoppage will be able to change their reservation at no cost… or request a full refund for unused tickets.
