Air travel is stressful these days but for some WestJet passengers, there extra headaches earlier today when the airline experienced a system outage that caused flight delays across the country.

The service was restored by early afternoon Thursday after impacting morning travellers. But Westjet is still advising passengers to arrive at the airport early and to check flight status before leaving home.

By early afternoon, the airline was still experiencing issues with self-serve baggage drop at Calgary, Ottawa, Saskatoon and Halifax airports. NAV Canada, which is responsible for air traffic control in Canadian airspace, is experiencing a service outage with a third-party telecom provider. That’s temporarily reducing the flow of departures and arrivals in some western locations.

This comes just a week after Canada wide outage at Rogers Communications that impacted millions of customers, that impacted
9-1-1 emergency services and banking.
