The travel experience at Pearson continues to improve.
”We are indeed far from the finish line,” according to Greater Toronto Airports Authority President and CEO Deborah Flint.
”But the actions of the GTAA, the federal government, the agencies, the airlines and may other partners working concertedly together are indeed having a positive impact.”
She adds the airport has seen ”measurable” improvements in operations.
There were fewer delays last week as 44% of flights were on time compared with an average of 35% the previous four weeks.
The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) which screens passengers before boarding, says 82% cleared security in less than 15-minutes.
Fewer planes from abroad also sat on the tarmac because of delays at customs.
Last week, 19 planes were held upon arrival compared with July’s rolling average of 60 per week.
Domestic travellers waited an average of 24-minutes for their luggage; three-minutes faster than in July.
International travellers are also getting their bags back three-minutes faster and transborder passengers are seeing theirs four-minutes faster.
