John Travolta, Dionne Warwick, and Barbra Streisand are among those mourning the death of Olivia Newton-John.

“You made all of our lives so much better.” Those were the words that John Travolta wrote online in reaction to his Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John, whom he called “My dearest Olivia.”

“Too young to leave this world. May she RIP,” Barbra Streisand wrote, adding a tearful emoji.

Dionne Warwick tweeted, “Another angelic voice has been added to the Heavenly Choir,” noting that her “dear friend” was also “one of the nicest people I had the pleasure of recording and performing with.”

Singer-songwriter Richard Marx, a close friend of Newton-John’s who also collaborated with her on music, wrote on Twitter that she was “as kind and loving a person as there’s ever been.”

And Australia’s acting Prime Minister Richard Marles says Newton-John’s death marks “the end of an era for a generation who grew up watching Grease.

Olivia Newton-John, a longtime resident of Australia whose sales topped 100-million records, died yesterday at her Southern California ranch at the age of 73.

Newton-John was first diagnosed and treated for breast cancer in 1992. She was in remission until 2013, when the disease returned, and years later announced it had metastasized to her spine. A family statement posted Monday afternoon to Newton-John’s Facebook page emphasized how open she was about her breast cancer journey. It described her as a “symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years.”

She also founded the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Research Centre in her hometown of Melbourne.

On Instagram, Newton-John’s husband, John Easterling, is requesting instead of flowers, mourners make donations to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Research Centre.
