OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt is releasing some shocking information on the number of people killed this year in collisions on Ontario’s roads, waterways and trails.
He says 259 people have died – 19 in the last week alone – with a 300-percent increase in bicycle fatalities from 2 last year to 8 this year.
And it’s speeding which he says is contributing to these fatalities.
“Speeding right now is the number one killer in motor vehicle collisions across the province and I want you and everyone who can listen to this message to understand the consequences of making a bad choice,” Sgt. Schmidt explains in a video he posted on Twitter.
And he says if you see dangerous or aggressive behaviour out on the roads, trails or waterways, call *OPP or 9-1-1.
