EMMY NOMINATED DOCUMENTARIAN DIES AT 67

An Emmy nominated documentarian, who was the former wife of acclaimed U-S documentarian Ken Burns, has died.

Amy Stechler worked on some of her husband’s documentaries in the 1980’s and was nominated for an EMMY in 2005 for her examination of Mexican painter Frida Khalo.

Stechler edited Burn’s first major documentary “Brooklyn Bridge” 1981 and was a driving force for the company that produced Burns series the “The Civil War.”

She and Burns had two daughters who have confirmed their mother’s death at the age of 67.

Stechler had been battling multiple sclerosis.
