After the roll out of the new Omicron-targeted bivalent COVID-19 vaccine began on Monday, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health says about 22,000 doses have been administered.

But Dr. Kieran Moore says only 20,000 out of a potential 80,000 appointments have been booked for the next two weeks.

Ontario residents who are 70 and older, long-term care residents, health-care workers, Indigenous people and their adult household members, immunocompromised people 12 and older and pregnant people are eligible for the shot now.

All adults 18 and older may book appointments starting as of Monday September 26th.

The recommended wait between a third or fourth booster of the original vaccine and this new shot is 24 weeks, although you may receive it as soon as 12 weeks after the most recent booster.

The website for booking is ontario.ca/covid 19 or you can call the hotline at 1-833-943-3900.
