Music historians are mourning the passing of a man named Joe Bussard.
Bussard is known for having built a basement temple for one of the largest and foremost private collections of 78 rpm records in the world.
Bussard began collecting rare recordings of early American jazz, blues, country and gospel music as a teenager and built one of the world’s foremost private collections of about 15,000 78s.
Joe Bussard died this week at his home in Frederick, Maryland.
He was 86.
