A Swedish prosecutor claims investigators found traces of explosives at the Baltic Sea site where two natural gas pipelines were damaged in what he referred to an act of “gross sabotage.”
According to Mats Ljungqvist of the Swedish Prosecution Authority, the region where the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipes collapsed in September was meticulously documented by the investigators.
The parallel undersea pipelines connect Germany and Russia.
According to Ljungqvist, “many of the foreign things that were uncovered” at the scene provided proof of explosives.
The prosecuting agency says the preliminary inquiry was “extremely intricate and detailed,” and additional examination would determine whether anyone might be charged “with suspicion of crime.”
