A newborn baby was killed, according to Ukrainian police, after a rocket attack occurred overnight and hit a maternity unit at a hospital in southern Ukraine.

A doctor and the mother of the infant were extricated alive from the wreckage on Wednesday. The governor of the area said that the rockets were Russian.

As the Russian invasion enters its tenth month this week, the strike in the city of Vilniansk adds to the horrifying toll endured by hospitals and other medical facilities.

They have been targets since the beginning, including an airstrike on a maternity hospital on March 9th in the now-occupied port city of Mariupol.

The two-story building was completely demolished, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
