European countries are racing to find ways to help Ukraine stay warm and keep functioning through the brutal winter months amid ongoing Russian aggression.

On Friday, the nations promised to provide additional assistance in order to counteract Russian military operations aimed at switching off the lights and heat.

In an effort to put further pressure on Kyiv, nine months after Russia invaded its neighbour, the Kremlin’s soldiers have focused on Ukraine’s electrical grid and other crucial civilian infrastructure.

According to estimates from officials, the recent strikes have damaged about 50% of Ukraine’s energy installations.

The foreign minister of France announced on Friday that her nation is sending 100 powerful generators to Ukraine.

She claimed that Russia is “weaponizing” the winter and putting the civilian population of Ukraine through suffering.
