A new biography claims Queen Elizabeth was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer, called multiple myeloma, during the last year or so of her life. But official records say the longest reigning monarch in British history died from old age at 96.

But author Gyles Brandreth writes in “Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait” cancer explains her tiredness, weight loss and mobility issues the year before her death.

She writes that the Queen knew that her remaining time was limited and accepted it with grace.

The public was told very little about the Queen’s health during her reign but in her final year on the throne, she did have to cancel several events due to her health.

Despite this, the monarch continued to be busy right up until her last day.
