Another two overseas ”police stations” run by Chinese authorities are reportedly operating in Canada.
This according to the Spain-based international human rights group ‘Safeguard Defenders,’ which in September alleged of 54 such stations around the world three were up and running in the GTA; two in Markham and one in Scarborough.
The organization now says there are even more of these foreign ‘police stations’ around the world, including at least 2 more in Canada.
One’s said to be in Vancouver, while the location of the other is unknown.
‘Safeguard Defenders’ allege the ‘stations’ are being used to intimidate and harass those Beijing wants to return to China; in some cases to face criminal prosecution, but for varying reasons.
China says the sites are there to assist citizens with such things as renewing their driver’s licences.
