Hundreds of thousands of Ontarians’ personal information may have been compromised in a data breach of the province’s vaccine management system.

In a statement, the province says two people were charged in connection with a breach of the COVAXX system last year. But it doesn’t say how the breach occurred, what charges were laid, nor does it provide the names or ages of the accused.

Ontario’s privacy commissioner will now determine the scale and impact of the breach.

Beginning Friday, December 9th, 360,000 people will receive notices that their personal information was part of the breach.

In most of the cases, officials says it was names and / or phone numbers. The ministry says it’s confident the vaccine booking system is a safe and secure tool for Ontarians to use.
