It’s voting day in the federal riding of Mississauga-Lakeshore.

A byelection is taking place Monday December 12th in the GTA riding, the first under Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative leadership.

Poilievre has not been visible during the race and the Liberals picked a well-known Ontario politician, former finance minister Charles Sousa, as their candidate.

Up until Sousa declared his candidacy, he was a member of the Recovering Politicians Panel on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer.

“I encourage everyone who can, to please, get out and vote and enable your voices to be heard,” Sousa said ahead of voting day, “The ballot is gummed up with a lot of different names, none of whom live in Mississauga-Lakeshore.”

There are 34 candidates listed as independent.

Polls will be open from 8:30am to 8:30pm.
