James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” has surpassed past $1 billion in global ticket sales in just two weeks, becoming the fastest movie this year to cross the impressive box office milestone.

Only two other films released in 2022 managed to surpass the billion-dollar mark: “Top Gun: Maverick” which took 31 days to clear the milestone and “Jurassic World Dominion” which took about four months.

By comparison, nine movies released in 2019 surpassed $1 billion worldwide prior to the global pandemic.

By needing just 14 days, “The Way of Water” is the quickest to reach $1 billion since 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which required only 12 days.
