It’s been an annual Christmas anthem since 1984.
This Christmas we’re hearing that not everyone loves the song. In fact, a couple in England has raised about $60-thousand to buy the licensing rights to “Last Christmas” so they can scrub it from existence and never have to hear it again.
Hannah Mazetti says her contempt for the song began 13 years ago when she working in a cafe in Oxford and her boss would would play the song as many as 12 times a day over the holidays.
The problem is, it’ll cost millions of dollars to secure the rights., but if they can., they plan to have “Last Christmas” shipped to a nuclear waste site where it can rest in oblivion for at least two million years.
