The state funeral for former Ontario Lieutenant-Governor David Onley will be a week from Monday, January 30th, at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in Toronto.
Before that, Onley will lie in state at the legislature for public visitation over two days, January 28th and 29th, next Saturday and Sunday.
David Onley was appointed lieutenant-governor in 2007 where he remained in office for 7 years.
He became a public figure when hired by Moses Znaimer at City TV in 1984 as a weather and science specialist.
Disabled himself, Onley fought for disability rights and greater accessibility throughout his life.
David Onley died last week at the age of 72.
