Esteemed Canadian conductor Yannick Nezet-Seguin has two more Grammys for his trophy case.
The Montreal native, who conducts the New York Met, won the Grammy for best opera recording for “Blanchard: Fire Shut Up In My Bones.” The 47 year old Canadian also won the Grammy for best classical solo vocal album for “Voice Of Nature – The Anthropocene.”
Nezet-Sequin had to miss the Grammys because he was conducting a concert in Philadelphia but said there was champagne to celebrate his wins.
While in Philadelphia, he signed an extension of his contract with the Philadelphia Orchestra through 2030 and had his title upgraded to music and artistic director.
Meantime, he continues with his work as music director of the New York Metropolitan Opera.
