A key problem that can cause the ignition to shut off while they’re being driven is the reason Nissan is recalling over 809,000 small SUVs.
The recall covers certain Rogues from the 2014 through 2020 model years, and Rogue Sports (called Qashqais in Canada) from 2017 through 2022.

According to Nissan, the vehicles have jackknife folding keys which may not stay fully open.
If driven with the key partially folded, a driver might touched the fob, unintentionally turning off the engine.
This can cause loss of engine power and power brakes, and the air bags might not inflate in a crash.
The automaker is not aware of any crashes or injuries due to the problem.
More than 96,000 affected vehicles were sold in Canada (70,237 Rogues and 26,663 Qashqais).
There’s no fix as yet.
Nissan will notify owners in March with an interim letter instructing them not to attach anything else to the key ring.
A follow up letter will tell them to take their SUVs in for repairs.
Owners with keys that won’t remain in the open position should contact their dealers.
