A family dispute call proves fatal for two Edmonton police constables.
”These people were doing their job.
This is unthinkable, it’s unimaginable, it’s horrific, it’s a tragedy but we will move on,” said Police Chief Dale McFee, in explaining what happened.
He says 35-year-old Constable Travis Jordan and 30-year-old Constable Brett Ryan were responding to the call at an apartment building.

While they were approaching the suite, McFee adds they were shot by a male suspect and that the officers ”did not have a chance” to use their weapons.
The young male suspect is also dead … apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A female related to the suspect was taken from the scene with life-threatening injuries and is in serious but stable condition in hospital.
Police services from the GTA and across the country are expressing their condolences to the colleagues and the families of the two officers.
