The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and Russia’s commissioner for children’s rights accusing them of being responsible for war crimes in Ukraine.
The president of the ICC alleges they’re responsible for the unlawful deportation of children from occupied areas of Ukraine to Russia.
”’The judges have reviewed the information and evidence submitted by the prosecutor and determined that they are credible allegations against these persons for the alleged crimes,” said Piotr Hofmanski.
However, the International Criminal Court has no police service to enforce the warrants, and Russia; like the U.S., refuses to hand over its citizens to the court.
A spokesperson for the Russian foreign ministry says the warrant against Putin had ”no significance whatsoever.”
