While on their brief visit to Canada, U.S. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are staying in Ottawa, but the National Arts Centre’s catering staff has plans to take them on a cross-country culinary tour Friday evening.

The prime minister and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau will host a dinner at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum with the president and first lady Jill Biden as the honorees.

Executive chef Kenton Leier created the menu using ingredients such East Coast yellowfin tuna, beef from Alberta, flaxseed, Quebec maple syrup, and Yukon gold potatoes.

The three courses also feature a rum caramel prepared with Screech rum from Newfoundland and a cabernet sauvignon jus created with wine from Kingsville, Ontario’s Pelee Island Winery.

As this isn’t an official state dinner, Governor General Mary Simon and her husband, Whit Fraser, are relieved of hosting duties though both will be in attendance.

Also on the guest list are various cabinet ministers and leaders from Canada’s business community, including C.E.O. of the Canadian American Business Council, Scotty Greenwood.

The national Indigenous organizations will be represented by Assembly of First Nations National Chief RoseAnne Archibald, Metis National Council president Cassidy Caron, and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami president Natan Obed.
