Doug Ford is slamming the federal Environment Minister after Steven Guilbeault suggested Ontario has no plan to fight climate change.

“Oh boy, that guy’s a real piece of work, isn’t he,” Ford told reporters during a news conference in Hamilton.

The Premier said Ontario has done more to fight climate change than any government in the history of the province or right across the country.

“We’re building the largest transit system in North America to get people out of their cars and get them onto the transit system, we’re doing everything we can,” said Ford. “We’re putting $1 billion to make sure we pull critical minerals out of the ground to put in the EV vehicles and the batteries.”

This week, Minister Guilbeault said Ford’s criticism of the federal carbon tax “incredibly rich coming from a premier who has no plan to fight climate change.”

This isn’t the first time that Ford has clashed with Guilbeault. Two months ago, Guilbeault suggested Ottawa could try to block the development of land that Queen’s Park removed from the Greenbelt and added the Ford government has “no desire for public consultation or transparency.”
