George Clooney is producing the film version of a Pulitzer-and-Tony-winning play.

August: Osage County will feature the first time Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts have co-starred in a film.

Streep will play a matriarch who is addicted to prescription drugs, while Roberts will portray her eldest daughter.

Written by Tracy Letts, August: Osage County made its Broadway debut in December 2007 after premiering at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre earlier that year. It won the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play.

Shooting will begin in the fall.
