Scientists in Switzerland have confirmed they have found strong evidence of a new subatomic particle that could be a major factor in the origin of the universe.
They can’t confirm it for sure, but they are all but certain that they have discovered the Higgs Boson. It’s important because it explains why the universe has mass, and why matter came together to form planets, galaxies, and life itself.
The particle was named after Peter Higgs, the British physicist whose theories more than forty years ago led to the elusive particle being named for him.
