The FBI says a global Internet security threat that was supposed to take hundreds of thousands of computers offline today was not as widespread as initially anticipated.
The American agency had warned that some Internet users may not be able to surf the web, check email or go onto social networking sites if they had a specific type of malware on their computers.
Online security expert Chris Davis says these types of online threats are common, but serious.
He says very effective malware is often capable of evading most Internet security programs.
