There is good news from Toronto City Council for food lovers on a budget. Councillors have approved some changes to street food vending regulations that will allow new types of food to be sold on the city’s hot dog carts.
Restrictions have been lifted on pre-packaged cut fruits and vegetables; bagels with individual serving containers of butter, margarine, peanut butter or jam.
Other items you will be able to buy are … pre-packaged salads containing only vegetables and/or fruit … soups; pre-cooked veggie burgers; and coffee and tea.
The changes won’t take place until at least November. That’s when a staff report is expected.
