It was a brief storm, but it left a mess in its wake.

A thunderstorm barreled through the Toronto area yesterday, knocking out power to some areas and flooding some streets, including a section of the Lakeshore.

In Whitby, 17 people were injured when lightning struck a tent at Iroquois Park. People at the Whitby Ribfest had taken shelter from the storm when a lightning bolt struck the tent, sending shockwaves through the structure. None of the injuries was life-threatening.
