A class action lawsuit has been launched against Elections Ontario regarding the loss of personal information of up to 2-point-4 million voters.
Ontario’s chief electoral officer recently announced that two memory sticks, containing copies of personal information collected from voters in 20 to 25 ridings, went missing in April.
The lawsuit seeks, among other things, financial compensation for any individuals whose personal information has been lost.
Steve Osborne of Merchant Law Group says there’s a substantial risk the voter information could be used for identity theft or other frauds.
