Close to 100 prominent artists including Gordon Pinsent and Martha Henry , Atom Egoyan and Fiona Reid are supporting a call to reinstate Factory Theatre founder, Ken Gass.
Gass was Artistic Director when he was fired by the board of directors on June 20th.
Works by playwrights Judith Thompson and George F. Walker had been scheduled to be performed next season on the Factory stage but they have joined other artists who are refusing to support the theatre until Gass gets his job back.
The controversy over his removal has also generated a petition signed by more than 3,000 concerned artists demanding the board resign and reinstate Gass.
The board and Gass have disagreed about plans to renovate the theatre and an adjoining space, a heritage property sitting on a valuable corner of real estate at Bathurst and Adelaide Streets.
Factory Theatre Publicist Laurie Murphy says the theatre has not been notified of any changes to the season and is moving full speed ahead.
