A prolific, multiple-award-winning composer has died.

Marvin Hamlisch won an Oscar for adapting Scott Joplin’s music in “The Sting”.

He also won two Oscars for “The Way We Were”.

Hamlisch died yesterday in Los Angeles after a brief illness at the age of 68. The cause of death has not been released.

He won both a Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize for composing Broadway’s “A Chorus Line”.

His other awards made him one of only two people to be able to display an Oscar, a Tony, a Grammy, an Emmy, and the Pulitzer on his mantlepiece.

 The other was Richard Rodgers.
