The Ontario government is threatening to use legislation to impose a new contract on the province’s teachers.
But the minority Liberals will need help from at least one of the opposition parties to get any bill passed. And Premier Dalton McGuinty admits the Conservatives and NDP are at opposite ends of the extreme on the issue. McGuinty won’t say whether the government would declare back-to-work legislation a confidence issue, which could trigger an election if it’s defeated.
