The federal government has come through with a $7.5 million grant for the Royal Conservatory’s  unique music education program.

Teaming up with  Carnegie Hall  the Conservatory signed a deal  in 2011 to produce a training program that could be introduced across the U.S.

The funding announcement by federal Labour Minister Lisa Raitt will help deliver the  core program in the U.S. and  strengthen music education in 300 Canadian communities.

It will also give the Conservatory  the lift it needs to seek out other international markets.

The institution has trained legions of musicians for more than 125 years.
