This year’s New York Film Festival will open with a hint of Canada.
The festival’s gala kick-off will be Life of Pi, director Ang Lee’s 3-D adaptation of the best-selling novel by Canadian author Yann Martel.
The novel about an Indian teenager sharing a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger won the Man Booker prize in 2002.
The adaptation stars newcomer Suraj Sharma in the title role; and the cast includes Irrfan Khan, Tobey Maguire, Rafe Spall, and Gerard Depardieu.
The New York Film Festival runs September 28th to October 14th.
