How do you know if your will is legal, especially when life changes as we age. Lawyer Les Kotzer told the New AM 740’s Goldhawk Fights Back, marriage automatically revokes a will, but separation does not. He went on to say, “there are so many common law couples out there, who think they’re protected, but they’re not. Because, under the law, if you die without a will, common law partners get absolutely nothing in terms of inheritance.” Kotzer also clarifies, “the house you live in is not your matrimonial property. You’re not considered married in terms of inheritance law.” There’s more information online at willappointment.com.
