History was made on the shores of Lake Ontario last night. Fourteen year-old Annaleise Carr of Simcoe emerged from the waters of the lake around 9:00 last night at Toronto’s Marilyn Bell Park after swimming from Niagara-on-the-Lake. She’s believed to be the youngest person ever to complete the 52-kilometre swim.
Carr was taken to hospital as a precaution after the swim but was said to be in good shape.
Her swim raised $100,000 for Camp Trillium, a childhood cancer support centre.
Marilyn Bell Park is named after the first person to make the successful crossing. She was 16 when she swam the Lake in 1954.
