Seven older women, who complain they were let go from their jobs because of their age, have been offered new opportunities. The women are between the ages of 62 and 78 are all from the London, Ontario area. They’ve filed an ageism complaint against Metro and the country’s largest consumer samply company, InStore Focus, after losing their jobs. When Ian Sparks read about their plight, he offered them positions with his company “Luma Events”. Sparks says many of his company’s demonstrators are seniors and he says they’ve been found to be loyal, reliable and engaging with the customers. He goes on to say that he would be pleased to bring these women on board as part of the team of demonstrators in the London area. The seven women allege they were let go as “brand ambassadors” from InStore Focus to make way for younger “soccer moms”. It’s the biggest claim of alleged age discrimination to date with the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.
