Next year’s Academy Awards ceremony could have a more musical feel to it.
The Academy has announced that Craig Zadan and Neil Merron have been selected to produce the Oscars next year. The pair has a long track record of producing musicals for television and film. They were behind the multiple-Oscar-winning film version of the musical Chicago that was shot in Toronto. They’re also at the helm of the Broadway-backstage TV series Smash.
One of their non-musical ventures was the 2007 movie The Bucket List. Zadan and Merron released a statement, saying: “When we filmed The Bucket List, we made our own personal bucket list and producing the Oscars was number one. It’s truly a great honour.”
