It’s a question many Zoomers may have dealt with years ago.
And maybe now their children.
Should boys be circumcised?
The American Academy of Pediatrics says the health benefits of circumcision outweigh the risks.
The academy’s updated policy says circumcision reduces the chances of H-I-V infection and penis cancer.
Its old policy said the potential medical benefits were not sufficient to warrant recommending the routine circumcision of newborns.
Some critics say it’s a cosmetic procedure that amounts to genital mutilation, or that it causes a loss of sexual satisfaction.
The academy says the final decision should be up to parents.
