A damning allegation at Queen’s Park from an aide to the former CEO of Ontario’s Air Ambulance Service.

Jay Lebo told a legislative committee that he was ordered by his boss, Chris Mazza, to concoct misleading information about Ornge to the auditor general who was investigating financial irregularities.

Mazza testified in May that everything his administration did at Ornge happened with the full knowledge of the Health Ministry. But Minister Deb Matthews pointed out at the time that the auditor general had great difficulty in getting information out of Ornge executives.

Opposition members of the committee are also accusing Premier Dalton McGuinty of dodging the hearings because of the upcoming byelections. They Conservatives say McGuinty won’t testify for fear of giving the scandal more publicity before next week’s votes in Vaughn and Kitchener Waterloo.

But McGuinty says it’s up to Deb Matthews to represent the government at the committee.
