It’s not often that byelections gets a lot of attention. But then, it’s not often that byelections can mean the difference between a minority and a majority government.

Voters in the Ontario ridings of Vaughn and Kitchener-Waterloo are making that decision today. Premier Dalton McGuinty has been pushing for the two extra seats he needs to form a majority.

The Liberals are expected to easily win the byelection in Vaughan, retaining the seat vacated by former finance minister Greg Sorbara.

Kitchener-Waterloo was vacated when McGuinty appointed veteran Conservative Elizabeth Witmer as chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Hudak concedes that the riding was more of an Elizabeth Witmer seat than a Tory stronghold. All three parties have been campaigning heavily in that riding.

Polls are open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM today.
